New advice encourages the elderly to reclaim their independence
As we get older, maintaining a self-sufficient lifestyle can become challenging, but now a UK healthcare watchdog wants to encourage the elderly to partake in ‘intergenerational’ activities and social outlets to reclaim their independence at home and in public.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has called on communities to make local groups more accessible for elderly residents. It claims that councils should be making seniors living in their area aware of the inclusive activities available to them to curb loneliness and promote independence later on in life.
